I am loving this blog so so much! It's basically everything i want to do- Lose weight, exercise and be happy. You aren't telling people don't eat this and don't eat that, you're giving alternatives which really put minds at ease- like you can still eat yummy foods with less calories. Thankyou :) You're blog is amazing. x
Aw thank you:) Its a process that I’m going through too, so I’m just posting the stuff I found useful and motivating:) stay strong and I wish you the best of luck!!:)
You need to eat your weight in kg in grams of protein after a workout- it doesn’t have to be immediately after but you need to get that within the day.
*This is because working out and exercising causes little tears in your muscle, which will heal quickly much stronger- that’s how muscles get bigger and stronger- but your body needs protein in order to rebuild that muscle.
Today I had my lacrosse mile time trial! It’s my first year playing lacrosse, and I knew that would really be my shining part of the tryouts, because I’m a distance runner.
However, there were several complications that I was really scared would affect me:
-I tore my MCL a year and a half ago, and my knee is now starting to bother me there.
-I have shin splints and a sprained ankle, because I was lazy and just started up training with my personal trainer (two times a week) a month ago. (I haven’t gone for like two years- back when I was really into the whole competitive running thing.)
I ended up getting the fastest mile time on the team(it was 6:11), but the coach mixed things up and didn’t get my time-she didn’t even realize that I was the fastest! (I was really upset, but the girl she thought was the fastest vouched for me and said I was really in front.) That pissed me off, and I was also a little disappointed, because that was not my best mile. (My personal record is a 5:50, and when I ran Track, I averaged around a 6:00 each time.)
A lot of people have never heard of almond butter, so I figured I would enlighten some of you about it. It’s not just another spread- I know we have peanut butter, Nutella(chocolate and hazelnut), and 23948290480 other ones, but almond butter really is the most nutritious for you.
It has A LOT of protein and healthy fats packed in it, moreso than the other spreads mentioned.
Just make sure you don’t overdo it- no more than 2-3 tablespoons of it a day(and this is assuming you aren’t eating the about 22 almonds you are recommended to stay under a day).
*If you don’t know where to buy it or are just strapped for cash- you can bake some almonds to soften them up and then stick them in a food processor and make your own almond butter.
Is jogging better or power walking? Like for instance, jogging 30 min or walking 1 hour
It all depends on how you do it. Some people “jog” by simply shuffling one foot in front of the other and barely putting in effort, and some people keep good running form, pump their arms, have long strides, and basically go the whole nine yards. If the second part is the case, then jogging definitely wins.
However, it also depends on how you power walk. If you “power walk” by basically just walking, then even shuffling/jogging would be better. Some people power walk with weight and pump their arms and walk briskly and really get a good workout. This second option wouldn’t be better than jogging correctly and efficiently but would be A LOT better than just shuffling.
It basically comes down to preference and experience if you both jog and power walk in the most exercise-effective ways possible. If you’re new to this walking/jogging program, then I would suggest you power walk so you can ease your joints and body into this new introduction of exercise- especially because running is a high-impact exercise and can really take a toll on your joints if you do ‘too much too soon’.
